"Resurgence"
Second chance of life. New start.
Wood, plaster, acrylic paint
Created in Hopi Breton's Sculpture#138
March 2020
"I started this project in Hopi's class. The cabinet and most of the tree was done in class. I took materials home so that I could work on it at home not knowing that the school was going to close and we were going to work online. I consider myself very lucky that I got to finish this piece at home. I had already put so much though and time into creating it, so it was only right to finish what I started. This piece is very special to me. I represents what is dear to me in Spirit, Mind, Heart and Soul."

Zip it
Plaster, wood, epoxy, paint
ART-298 Independent Study
Spring 2020
"Zip It" was made to represent a personal part of myself. It's easy to look at someone and think they have everything together, when really they could be falling apart. It's about being told to be quiet when you want to speak up. This work is intended to relate, inspire, heal, and do whatever else comes to your mind. Always speak up, don't zip it"

Look Mom, I Have a Bird Nest!
Plaster, felt, twigs, wood glue, styrofoam, and wire
Sculpture 1 with Hopi Brenton
Spring 2020
"For this piece, I was inspired by my memories of having very fine, tangly hair as a child. I hated brushing it so I rarely did, and my parents would always tell me I had a “bird’s nest” in my hair. I thought a realistic bird nest hat could be a cool visual and a unique play on words. The dangling gold coils are meant to mimic the twists and knots of the main bird nest and create a dynamic piece full of motion. The egg, made from styrofoam coated in plaster and finished with acrylic, evokes maternal, familial themes that link to the memory that inspired me."

"Featured is a wearable piece that calls attention to racism and ignorance toward those of east-asian descent. This isn't to diminish the struggle of any other race, but to express my personal experience in a creative format. East-Asian xenophobia and dehumanization is very real and particularly relevant to the times we are living in now with the corona-virus pandemic"
