"During the 2020 Corona virus pandemic, I thought I would take a photo of society's new normal. People have to wear face-masks to protect themselves from the virus. I also wanted to show through a mirror that hands are longing to touch our face or past, but there is a portal of another world including the harsh reality of today."

"I recreated the painting of Fra Angelico for my photo but with a technological twist thanks to the sculpture. This is an episode of the bible called Noli me tangere (Don't touch me) where after Jesus comes back to life, he forbids Marie Madeleine to touch him. In this re-creation, they are 6 feet apart for social distancing but reach each other virtually thanks to the machine."

I used a Sony NEX-5T to take the picture. The program I used to edit was Adobe Photoshop.
Location: This was shot on the DVC campus near the Art buildings.
ARTDM-136-2430 Introduction to Digital Photography Instructor: Bill Thomas

"This photo was taken for my Light, Shadow & Abstraction assignment in my Intro to Digital Photography class. Our goal was to take images in abstraction with keeping in mind texture, shadow and shape. I chose this photo to share because I like that I was able to take an up close shot of a tree trunk and make it look like stone or a rocky mountain side. My goal was not to make it look like a tree trunk, but something different! I like that I was able to capture something so simple that many people walk past by every day and I think that is the beauty of this assignment. It was to be more aware of our surroundings"

"This piece was a creative, therapeutic outlet for me as I translated some of my emotions about relationships I have experienced in the past that involved domestic violence into a digital collage. The title of the piece is the National Domestic Violence hotline number for anyone who ever wants to get in touch with an advocate."
